Mobile IGSU-ambassador on the road

The IGSU-ambassador has been touring Zurich in his trendy Recycling Mobile for a few times now, picking up discarded take-away packaging, drinks containers, newspapers, cigarette ends and anything else that simply lands on the floor after use. In the evening he takes his ' findings' to the central collection point run by Zurich City Council. The unpleasant sight of rubbish piling up in parks and lakeside is an increasingly common one in Zurich, especially on hot summer days. His mission on behalf of a clean environment is one the IGSU-ambassador man really enjoys. Thousands of very different people cross his path when he's at work. He conveys good manners enthusiastically and convincingly, promoting a better attitude to life by setting an example. "You have to draw people's attention to their littering behaviour and motivate them to pick it up, he explains. Young people and school students, in particular, are often more than receptive to the message and get down to work themselves, ridding entire grassed areas of rubbish.
Switzerland's first IGSU-ambassadors, has taken his campaign from Zurich, berne, Basel, St. Gallen, Lugano to the French-speaking part of the country, beginning with the Geneva Motor Show. The ambassador is doggedly continuing his mission, constantly reminding visitors not to be careless when disposing of their rubbish. Amid the many fast and fancy cars there could hardly be a nobler setting. And he is delighted with the experiences of the first few hours, saying: "Visitors to the motor show are exercising more care and making frequent use of the rubbish bins and separate collection points for ALUdrinks cans or PET bottles to dispose of their personal waste.

Littering is an acute society problem against which we intend to take targeted action". Not only do we want to inform the public about the need to collect empty aluminium packaging properly, we also want to bring about a general change in the way people deal with used items.
