What would our collecting system be without the energetic assistance of the Swiss recycling companies (previously also called ‘scrap merchants’). They assure the return of the entire aluminium packaging to the aluminium foundries, who transform them into a new pre-materiel of high quality, used for various new aluminium applications. Almost 130 companies in all parts of Switzerland accept used aluminium cans, for which they distribute IGORA vouchers, paid CHF 1.30 per kilogram.
The 15 sorting headquarters form the link between the collected aluminium packaging and the foundries abroad. It is their task to clean the aluminium packaging, delivered by local authorities’ collecting points and the aluminium can presses, from foreign bodies (trash, plastic, iron, etc.) in order to make the fraction available for export and melting.
